The mesh is a good idea but you don't even have to cover the tank top. If you raise the rims with something so that when the fish jump they'll hit it and bounce back.

Check if there is anything in the tank particularly startling the fish... for me it was the Coral Banded Shrimp

My tank is using Garage Door rubber lol about 3-4 inches up. I have a firefish and jawfish who are notorious jumpers as well as a Midas Blenny so believe me I am right there with you.

Also.. how did you lose hermits and snails?!

I agree with the startled fish theory. I have had my rimless for quite a while now and have yet to experience anything jumping out. I have a tang, an angel, a clownfish, a few anthias, a mandarin....and yesterday decided to get a blue spot jawfish to really tempt fate :D
Is there a lot of traffic/family activity around the area where the tank sits?

no booze every fish that has jumped no one was in the room the blenny jumped through the night and the goby jumped when we were out . this all new rock i got from another reefer. Emanuel suggested there could be something lurking in the rocks like a mantis scaring the fish , i haven't heard any clicking but who knows
i would have never thought a ywg or algae blenny would jump

My algae blenny jumped to his demise 2 days after i got him and my tanks not even rimless. Turned out he was being chased when the lights went off by the wrasse. You can get soft screen mesh for front screen doors online and its fairly cheap. That'll keep them in for the long haul!

Do you have Led moonlights? If not maybe try them I have only had 1 jumper since I got them.

Jumper was a bluespot jawfish. I think theyt have like a 100% jump rate..
