The actual volume being dosed varies among the dosing pumps. They are not that precise. So your salinity may fluctuate too much in a small system.

wow thats a grate idea. i always thought about this concept. i think the ultimate tank is "self sufficient" like the ocean. i beleave it possible. are you gonna have float sensor that stops the pumping out of water once fully lowered and stops pumping back in salt water when is at its maximum float point? and have a more sensitive float divice(does travel much distance compared to the water changer float) so that your salinity stays pretty constant between h20 changes?
