Hey guys, what pumps are you guys using that:

1) Doesnt create a sand storm
2) Doesnt leave any no flow/ low flow areas
3) Doesnt look horrible?'

Im having a hard time keeping the sand settled at the front of my tank. I have a 20/20/14 cube, and Im using a Maxijet 1200, and a Koraila 2 for flow. I have them both pointed up to the surface and my sand still keep blowing away from the front of the tank. I took out one pump this week and started to get a small patch of cyano....cant have that so what are you guys working with?? Its also hard to keep the surface agitated so that you dont see that film on top of the water.

if you can get past the price, check out the coralsmania deal on the mp20.

vortech takes up way less real estate than a pair of 'normal' powerheads and has other benefits. creates a nice varying flow across the entire tank. you can dial the flow down to the point where sand isn't blowing around.

price is relatively steep but it's very worth it IMO. keeping heat out of tank is another plus come summertime.

Yeah I saw that deal...but then $240 on a pump is just crazy to me. Im in no way doubting that its a great product, but its the holidays and I just cant drop that on a vortech...as much as I want one... :)

Anyone have experience with the MJ900 models? maybe 2 of those?

this is an old pic:

I have a 90 with 2x K3s and the Eh 1262 (which is a monster) and a Maxijext for back flow. Although i might change that.

Notice the Snowflake blocking the powerhead. If you are creative enough, you can find decorations for every part of the year to hide your powerheads! Snowflakes, hearts, clovers, ghosts, george washingtons head. the possibilities are endless! Or you could drop $500 on a tunze system.

Notice the bat for holloween!

yeah i hear you.. i need to upgrade mine to the mp40 but i haven't pulled the trigger yet.

if you want good flow that is wide, i think propeller setups like koralias are the way to go. i was getting random flow with a pair of them on either end of the tank. they are way more efficient that then the mj's also.

Ok, thanks! I have a Seio 620 aswell, and Im going to get another from a friend over the weekend. Im gonna run both and see if that helps. The surface agitation is difficult to manage without blowing water out of the tank. The surface is the real problem.

You can see in this pic ( I took out the koraila 4) that all the sand was pushed to the back of the tank, making my tank 1/2 bare bottom, 1/2 sand..lol...Im only running the Mj1200 and the Koraila 2 and its still the same way...even after pushing the sand back to the front. I wake up and its still the same... lol

Ok i see your problem you are miss a piece for your koralia pumps that is why its causing a sand storm. If you get the end thing (dont know the name of it) and that should easily solve your sandstorm problem.
