I wouldn't do it, especially if you had the fish shipped. The fish will be stressed out enough as it is. As Kathy said, these dips should only be done if absolutely necessary. The parameters of the fresh water need to be flawless in order for this to work. In most cases, I believe the dip causes more harm than good.
Freshwater dipping to be done right must have the exact temp water and ph as the container the fish is coming from and must be don for the appropriate duration of time. Many suggest a duration of time a zero seconds because it can stress out the fish more and cause more harm than good. Proper quarantine of that fish in a quarantine tank before adding that fish to your display is your best bet.
