I know a lot of peeps here do not consider the SeaClone a real skimmer, but here is my tale of two tanks...

Herman gave me a SeaClone, free of charge (THANK YOU!!), and it's not that great coz it doesn't seem to skim anything from my 26 bow with 4 fishes and lots of softies, my carpet and misc corals. I left it on for days with hardly any skim. I even moded it, as per Herman's suggestions, by inserting an airstone in the chamber to create more bubbles, but no go.

Then last nite, I gave up and decided to put it in a tank I was cycling, with just live rock, coz I didn't wanna waste the skimmer... :bigeyes2: lo and behold... i skimmed like you wouldn't believe! It started skimming the moment I turned it on...! And it is still skimming.

Why do you think that was...

Thanks again Herman for the skimmer! Works great... now!

Did you use any type of stress coat or any other gel like substance? I used to have a seaclone on my 55 back in my newbie days, and it actually did skim and gave me a dark green skimmate, however when I added stress coat, it never skimmed like it used to. I bought a remora after that and finally upgraded to an aquac ev 120, which is probably one of the best skimmers I have ever seen in action. . .

There you go, thats your problem. I would give it a few weeks before you put the seaclone back on the 26 bow. I think the seaclone should suffice for a tank your size. When I had it on my 55, nitrates were like at 150! With the remora they came down to like 40 -80 and with the new skimmer their at 0! (I have to tell everyone this because I have been fighting nitrates for the longest, lol)

For your 26 bow, I think an Aquac Remora would be great! They are extremely easy to use, set it and forget it. All you have to do is clean the collection cup. And resale value is pretty good on these skimmers, and you can always get a good return on them if you ever plan to upgrade your tank/skimmer. This is what I exactly went through.
