There is a MUCH better chance of me getting hit by a car then being attacked by terrorists. Personally I am not going to change what I do out of fear that someone is going to attack us. If you go around being fearful for every threat that comes along then they win without lifting a finger. In fact they will use that fear more often if its effective. Well said. I feel the same way, if you lived scared then they've already won. Scared or not lots of folks still have to take the train regardless. Rather than being scared why not just be more attentive to whats going on around you?

I am attentive to what's around me in the subway, but what can you really do if someone walks in strapped with explosives, by the time you see it it would be too late. Like Eric said I don't let it stop me from getting around NY.
