My wife was a train conductor up until 2 years ago was assaulted by some mutt who thought it would be fun to punch a conductor in the face as the train was leaving. she was the 5th conductor assaulted in 5 days at the same station. NYCMTA did nothing about didnt even warn conductors of the condition.
the NYCMTA cares about one thing your purchase of a metro card.
to my knowledge they still havent trained any personel to deal with a terrorist attack. thier stance is it's NYPD's responsibility. the conductor the motorman have no training in dealing with a terroristic event other than calling for help.
it's really sad.
Thank god my wife doesnt work for them anymore and we dont have to commuteusing MTA

I saw a story a while ago and the MTA personal were begging for emergency training, i think they get to watch a hour video, great.

plane crash, major earthquake, shot in combat, 9/11, etc etc not to mention all the dumb **** I pulled... I am in overtime anyway. Survived so much! Now I just want to live.... Aint gonna let some Osama bin MotherF&*$%^ screw up my life.

The whole point of terrorism is to instill terror. If you change due to threats etc - what can I say - Osama wins..... Sad but true

Very good points guys. The main one I feel is important is to stay alert and not to tremble in fear. It's important for all of us to do as the passengers of Flight 93 did. Show the terrorist they can't do as they please in our country.

Well said. I feel the same way, if you lived scared then they've already won. Scared or not lots of folks still have to take the train regardless. Rather than being scared why not just be more attentive to whats going on around you?

I totally agree part of the war against terror and a way to defeat it the public has to have trust in law enforcement, and others that are responsible for the publics safety. MTA has dropped the ball, and never stepped to the plate
