I have an ASMg3 skimmer with a gate valve and recently I noticed that it has increased the # of bubbles coming out of the skimmer into the sump. I do not know how to control or stop that.

Also The waste container has started filling up with water and starts to overflow. I have never touched the valve or anything other than turning on and off and removing the waste container. I have emptied it so so many times and never had a problem, and it began overflowing last week for the first time. So I have adjusted it and it is fine one minute then a few hours later it will be filled with water.

Lastly I have a louder than normal bubbling of water sound coming out of the top of the pvc where the valve is attached.
Please let me know any suggestions to remedy these problems or at least to know what the problem may be and an avenue in order to fix.

Thanks all.....Happy New Year!

the overflowing of the cup is one of two things.

Either you were working on your tank, or fed the fish, or the natural oils on your hand made the bubbles go down, after a few hours, the bubble resume to normal and your riser to set too high and it overflows

Or
You used some epoxy in your tank and caused your skimmer to go nuts and overflow

As a baseline, you should look at the water level inside the skimmer with the venturi close. (No air entering the pump/skimmer) You can do it with or without the pump on. Let say if this happens again in the future, and the water level is higher (without the air), it means the outflow from the gatevalve is somewhat restricted or your inflow has increased if you are running with the recirc. modification.

I run a G4 on my tank when the venturi begins to clog with calcium my adjustments go out of whack

soak your venturi over night in white vinagar blow it out clear ( bottle compressed air used to clean keyboards work well)
open gate valve and re adjust.
I have the gate valve mod and the return is almost all the way to the bottom of my sump.
as stated before expoxy makes it go nuts I sometimes put a filter sock on my return after the gate valve.

good Idea to have a spare venturi
