Just curious my clam has been a little shriveled in one corner (kinda like old lettuce)but its been awhile it still is making shell ,opens and closes with the same quickness....could it be something else?
got a picture? Its probably pinched mantle. Check clamsdirect.com and read up. Follow the directions on freshwater dipping the clam once you made sure its pinched mantle.
Pinched mantle can take a day or two to a few weeks. And you can battle it for a few months of FW dips if it keeps coming back. Its a bacterial attack on the clam.
I wish I had a camera that would take good shots but it will look like crap...I noticed it a few weeks ago but other than the small shrivel spot it looks other wise healthy and fully extended ...I will try clams direct thanks ,Sal
Yeah it will look all healthy one day with just a small spot and then wake up the next to a empty clam shell. Be careful malibu. Don't let it sit too long.
