dropped a metal screw in the aquarium

Only if the screw contains copper.

If you know the general area it fell you could use the magnet from your mag float if you have one to try to pick it out of the sand. I'd try to find it because as it rusts it could release all kinds of metals into your water that you don't want in there. I know some people have had screws fall in and never experienced anything bad but some have also had their tanks crash inexplicably years later. So better safe than sorry?

how do i know if has copper? do they usually have?

Was it yellowish? Those are usually copper. If it was black it's probably steel. If it was silver it is probably stainless or aluminum.

What was the screw part off? That may give us a better idea of what material it may be made of..

Most likely it was steel (or stainless with some iron in it). A magnet should do the trick.
