These were left over from a ABC news set we built a while back, there $30 a foot. Im going to see if there is blue in the shop.
There 24VDC i hooked them up to 12V DC. They can be cut to any length.

This is what they look like.

Anyway i remember reading that red light does not bother anything in reef tanks, any truth to this?

I think you can run the red at night and the pods and such still act as if it's night time.

Looks to be pretty bright. There where a # of people working to put together white, blue and such to come up with LED lighting instead of MH or T-5 but I've never really seen anything except moonlight type lights.

I've seen the white LEDS used successfully on small pico systems- but nothing larger than a couple of gallons yet! I have 3 white LEDs on the Orbit light system I have- I love the 'shimmer' they make in the water at night...

If you have bought anything recently from platinumreefs.com you can see Dennis' weird 'moonlight disco' system on the CD he includes- it flashes from blue to red to green to white like a strobe- weird, but actually pretty cool!

They are using/experimenting white LEDs on large tanks in europe lots of $$$$ they last a long time, and cost nothing to run.
They have white strips at work, they dont shimmer like my moonlights i think its the way its made looks like its waterproof there is epoxy around the wires and LEDs.

Mike, im going to try a 3" piece. The large piece didn't seem to bother anything including the fish, but was very bright.

led's seem to be the light of the future for every application.
I can't wait till they have 50 watt led's = to 300 watt's of MH or vho.

I thought with the mark up on reef things that some one would have come out with some type of setup by now but I guess it's still off into the future.

Rob is it just the picture but it seems the light penatrates pretty deep. It actually looks brighter at the bottom than the top of the tank.
