What happens if you run warm water through a RO/DI filter???

We just installed a ro fiter in our office and as it turns out we do have hot water you just have to wait a long time for it.

Any thoughts would be apperciated.

Thanks
James

Your not supposed to run hot water through the ro filter.
From Filmtec product specs
http://www.dow.com/PublishedLiterat...seps/pdfs/noreg/609-00055.pdf&fromPage=GetDoc

Effect of temperature
As Figure 3 demonstrates,
membrane productivity is very
sensitive to changes in feedwater
temperature. As water temperature
increases, water flux increases
almost linearly, due primarily to the
higher diffusion rate of water through
the membrane.
Increased feedwater temperature
also results in lower salt rejection or
higher salt passage. This is due to a
higher diffusion rate for salt through
the membrane.
The ability of a membrane to
tolerate elevated temperatures
increases operating latitude and is
also important during cleaning
operations because it permits use of
stronger, faster cleaning processes.
This is illustrated by the comparison
of the pH and temperature ranges of
FILMTEC? FT30 thin-film composite
membrane and a cellulose acetate
(CA) membrane in Figure 4.

Ro membranes are typically rated at 50 psi and 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

All RO membranes output is subject to three things, your water quality, water pressure and water temperature. The membrane is rated at 77degress and 50 PSI For every pound of pressure lower than 50(psi) subtract 2% of the output. Example. using 40psi water pressure subtract 20% of the rated output. Temperature subtract 1.4 % per degree lower than 77 F. Water is as dense as it gets at forty degrees . R.O. systems operated with 40 degrees F. water will produce one half as much water , as they would at 77 F.

thanks.

i hooked it up to that feed because i was told that we didn't have hot water. Little did i know we only have hot water and i use that term loosely. It is probably 90 but it is only hot if you let it run for about 30min. But i think i will move it anyway.
