looking for a local place to get this stuff

Your best bet is to call the individual vendors here, or look up your local lfs in the yellow pages and CALL them before you make the trip.
I'm sure at least one of our vendors here has them.......

I believe Fishtown, USA in Queens does carry the sexy shrimp sometimes and I think Pets Warehouse in Copiague, LI has the crab. I would call all these places before you go!! Good Luck!!

i usually wouldn't recommend FishTown in Queens but they almost always have Sexy's for under $8. I still have 7 that I picked up from them 3 months ago. not sure about pompoms.

Just because they may not have it in stock at the moment, doesn't mean that they do not carry them. You never would hope for something to stay in stock all that long when you are a business. Livestock always gets purchased, and when you run out, sometimes you need to wait for the supplier to get them in stock before you get them again.
Always good to ask when their next shipment would be rather than say.... they don't have them.
