Under-skimming?

I feel as though I'm not getting the best out of my Remora Urchin Pro and it's a tall one too so it's in there for keeps.Would love to get a new skimmer but can't get out the remora even if I tried.Are there external ones I can use?Or..add another skimmer.It's a 90g BTW.Links are helpful.Thanks.

I have an ev180 and I dont feel like I get nearly enough either.
It would take me like 3-4 weeks to get as high as the drain on the collection cup.

Sump went in first,then the tank.Got like 2 inches of clearance from the cup.Had to drain it.Was thinking of getting a nano skimmer or a cheap hang on.It does skim alot but maybe not as efficiently.Don't know.

I don't think it would make much of any sense to add another small skimmer to the mix. If you're going to get another skimmer, get something rated for your tank if you can fit it. Maybe if you want to add something pick up Rick's Euroreef, little skimmer that kicks @$$

Getting mine out is not an option.I would have literally break it in pieces to get it out.Did not compensate for cabinet height.I would have to shut it off and use an external one if possible.Pics up coming tomorrow.

Theres no way you could lower the cup all the way and then tilt it forwards or back to kinda get it flat?

Jeff(Custom King) made the sump for me and measured the EV180,no way it'll fit.I think he made it just for the Remora.

:sigh: so......u can't even take it out to clean it or anything? definitely has a lot of debris stuck in the hose and injector....i just took mine out and cleaned it a few mins ago and now it's skimming a lot again...

Nelson, if you don't mind discarding the current skimmer you're using, you can totally dismantle it and trash it when you're done. Where there's a will there's two things, 1-a way and 2-an attorney

Is upgrading to a larger pump an option? Like a mag3.

Save your money on a new skimmer. Check out the new cones from MSX, which you can do externally.

The bad thing about external is that you have another fail point, if it leaks, you are screwed.

I run mine inside a half cut salt bucket with a water alarm in it that will cut the power to the skimmer pump if it gets tripped due to water hitting the alarm

Not to hijack the thread, but can you share the model of water detector you are using?
