help. ph dropping as we speak!

normally its at 8.10. i just did a 10 percent water change with a new salt, seachem reef salt and my ph is dropping slowly. its at 7.65 now. i was usng reef crystals previously. what do i do???

try taking out some tank water and mixing with buffer and adding it to the tank

Are your windows closed? Try opening them up for a little while.

New salt probably has a different buffer than the old salt. Also, did you test your Alk?

thanks everyone. so here is my theory. i just checked my ph with a test kit and it showed ~8.0. so what i'm thinking is that i poured the new water right onto the ph probe, i usually pour it somewhere else and this messed up the probe. i'll recalibrate and hopefully be proven correct.

Did you hceck the PH of the new water? Might have been just low PH water for some reason, when it mixed with the water near the probe it read that mixed PH which was lower than your tank.

Had the same problem with Seachem myself.Switched back to Reef Crystals.My PH is 8.5 sometimes even 8.7 with the lights on.
