RO/DI Holding tank??

Hi guys/gals after spending some time searching (as far back as to 2007) with no luck I'm bringing the question to you all.

I keep ro/di water in a 40 gl. Brute from which I siphon for my ATO's and water changes. All I keep in the Brute is a heater keeping the water at 77 and the pump I use to siphon the water out of it with. I never mix salt in it.
And yes it is normally full at all times. The ro/di is on automatic.

I changed out the filters on my ro/di this week and while doing so I had to remove the float from the Brute.
Well, when I pulled it out the float had a slime on it. So I checked the container as well and sure enough it to had this slime. Of course I took everything apart, scrubbed and rinsed it all with HOT water and dried it all. The slime has no color or odor.

Anyone have any idea what this is and is cleaning the Brute out ones a week good enough?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have the same in my brute 32 gal. storage tank, my top-off tank, etc. I only notice this slime on the bottom of the tank since there is alway water in this area. I never clean these tanks and never had any problems with the ro/di water. Not sure what it is or the cause. I would think it is safe since many ro/di manufactures sell ro/di drinking water storage tanks and this will occurs in those tanks as well.

I wonder if keeping a porhead running to keep the water circulating would help? may be worth a try :splitspin.

I get the slime. I assume it's a bacteria of a sort.

Whats the best way to clean it, hot water? I was thinking vinegar.

I just scrubbed it off with a scrubby sponge and rinsed with HOT water..... Then towel dried it.
