Thanks for the compliments on the tank!
Russ, I dont know if the pump has enough "oomph" at all. It doesn't have good pressure pushing the water up to the return.
I have the chiller on its own pump. I have like four pumps in my sump, phosban+carbon on small maxi-jet together, skimmer, chiller, and return. All on seperate pumps. I would like to possibly get a bigger pump for the chiller and return. The mag doesn't seem to do the trick. Any opinions on the number of pumps in my fuge?

Shad, awesome tank - not sure of that's a 90 corner or 54, but when i had the 90 and had heat uissues, I cut a 4" hole in the stand, top right above the chiller and closest to the top of the stand and put a heat sensored 4" Icecap fan pulling the heat out. I also kept the front door ajar 2" on the chiller side to let the heat escape while being drawn out with the fan.

Shad, four pumps in your sump can't be good for heat issues. Lessen the # of pumps and electric draw and you'll also likely combat your heat problem (or at least work towards resolving it).

Expensive, but reliable and very highly rated are the Eheim pumps. The Eheim 1262 is rated for 900 gph @ zero ft head. With some head pressure you'd probably be able to run the return, both reactors (carbon & phosban) and possibly your chiller. Your overflow is 1", therefore your maximum return can be no more than 600 gph.

Figure out how many feet of head pressure you'll have (vertical lift is about 4' + each plumbing fitting is equal to 1'). Then we can figure out how much flow will remain from the Eheim 1262 (900 gph to start with) after all the calculated head pressure.

Hope this doesn't confuse the hell out of you.

Russ, I don't know about Shad, but you confused me.LOL Then again I am easily confused when it comes to running more then 1 thing on each pump. Wanna come down and re work my sumps?

It looks like you have a Pacific Coast chiller. I have the same one in my 75 gal reef. I use 1 Quiet One 3000 pump for the return & skimmer. You will lose flow when you put the chiller inline due to the extra lengths of tubing required. In the off months I disconnect the chiller. Do not leave hooked up all year. BTW that is a nice setup.

Jim, Its a 92 corner. There is no back to it so it get plenty of air. I could put a fan to blow the heat out or take the chiller out all together to reduce heat. I guess I could put the chiller on the side of the tank. I would just need longer hoses, which will cause need for stonger pumps right?

I honestly don't have a clue when it comes to figuring out that stuff. I would like to re -plumb my whole sump. I would need to get a good pump with lots of ball valves to run the carbon, phosban, chiller, and return. I could probably use your engineering skills for this

Awibrandy, I am confused! Thanks for the compliments. In my eyes I still have a long way to go. I really want to move towards mor LPS and SPS. I just need to get rid of the softys, I assume mainly the shrooms and toadstool?

SIreefer, It is a 1/10 pacific coast chiller. I thought over the summer I was having trouble with the chiller because it was set for 79 deg. and it the tank would get up to 82-84 deg. thats with A/C. I guess all the pumps really have something to do with this.

Does anyone have any ideas why I may be having trouble with the LPS. I do have some nitrate issues sometimes. I usually do a salt buckets worth of water change once a month. My skimmer takes out a lot of waste. I usually 2 pitchers of RO/DI water a day due to evaporation.
I feed a pich of flake food around 5pm, and then a formula 1 or 2 around 10pm. I dont think Im over feeding. I also never touch my fuge portion of my sump. I have a buch of ruble with cheato. I see tons of worms, pods, tiny brittle stars in there, so I know some stuff is getting broken down. I just cant pinpoint the problem.

The orange polyps with the greenish blue center are some type of zoa. I don't have the name for them.
