Anyone have any experience with one? Looks great- and would fill in a nasty bare spot in my tank :) - but I've just read two conflicting reports on it. one from wetwebmedia (who I would tend to trust more) saying do not attempt to keep it at all, and one from marinedepotlive.com where it says "Many consider the Alcyonium species a low-maintenance specimen."

So which is it? I know marinedepot is just trying to sell them so...

WWM is right here, unless you wanna be spot feeding phyto everyday, steer clear. theyre nice but theyre survivability rates suck! one of those corals best left in the ocean IMO

they are non-photosynthetic, filter feeders

I have a chili coral who has survived in my tank for about a year now. I rarely spot feed him and everynight watch as he opens his white polyps when the lights turn off. He's a great coral to bring some red color into the tank

Thats too bad- don't mind spot feeding phyto, but not if it isn't going to have a good chance to surviving anyway. the search goes on....

hmmm...caves eh? dont' have any large caves in my tank...blah. even if it looks great, i'm not really into hard to care for corals in my nano (i'm thinking frogspawn will be the most fickle I need)- maybe I'll try to find a colorful leather or kenya tree...can't be brown though....

i'd still like to see your pic john :) do you keep yours upside down too (I did read that on wetwebmedia...)

I do not leave mine upside down I have him laying on a rock right side up and he did fine. I bought him without doing much research cause I loved his color. I found out later he would be not as easy as many other softies. But like I said he is doing fine
