:Yikes:
Hey guys,

My yellow watchman goby seems to have just disappeared from my tank... I have a lid on it and checked the perimeter around the tank (inscase he's a 007 fish), but no body.....

I didn't see any burrows, hmm..... :Lurking:

He didn't even come out when I fed.:Yikes:

Currently have:
Coral Angel
Bicolor Angel
Firefish
2 false percs

blue legged hermits, 1 cleaner shrimp-- did have a peppermint shrimp at one point but I haven't seen it in 2 weeks or so, used to come out at feeding time!

Maybe there's a sinkhole in my tank!

How big is this tank? You'd be surprised how quickly a small fish corpse can be consumed by tankmates leaving barely any remains. Animals are oportunistic feeders and even an herbivore won't pass up a chance at a free meal. That being said, small fish can seemingly "disappear" for periods of time only to show up randomly at a feeding or when the lights go on one day. I wouldn't replace him just yet, give it a little more time, you never know. Unless the body shows up and you know for a fact.

Yeah, I'm gonna hold out on getting a new one. The lid has 2 one inch size openings on the the front (both sides) but I don't think he got out of there. Nothing on the floor!

I have to agree that its very possible that he died and was consumed quicky and its also possible that he just burrowed under LR and you didnt see where. I had a sleeper goby that disappeared for about 6 weeks and one day I just saw him pop out of a cave he dug that was right in front of my eyes. He also eventually jumped out of the tank and i found him like a potato chip

I'd give it over a week before pronouncing time of death. THey are known to dissapear unless the spot they like is right in the front of the tank.

I have 3 of them which I bought tiny (.75") and now they are all over 2". 2 of them stay together (I think they paired because one of them turned almost black) and one stays on its own because the pair chases it away from their spot. Very entertaining fish with an upside-down smile.
