featherduster out of its tube

it came completely out of the tube the crown and the worm part is it dead also there were 2 connected at the bottom can I cut the dead tube off please help John

i would wait to cut the worm 'tube', a new feather may come back / re-grow.

the worm its self came out I put it in the sump till I get confermation it is dead

i would leave it.. i had one come out completely and i thought it was dead. but then a new one grew in the tube
