I've read a ton of debates on that topic- I personally use Tropic Marin cuz I read a bunch of good responses about it. People have good thing/bad things to say about each type. Some mix brands, I think most don't. I would search reef central for those threads if you are concerned- but if things are working out fine w/ ur coral I would stick to what you have been doing.

It is never recommended to mix different kinds of salts. Different salts although may seem to be the same are very much different in regards to what type and how much of each trace element is in each salt. It is always wise to stick with one salt for your corals sake you dont want to put them into a shock. If you do decide you need to change your salt this should be done with small water changes over a period of time so you can acclimate the corals, inverts and fish to the new salt.
