Hi everyone,
I was looking to get an anemone for my tank as i have a couple of saddle back clowns that are looking a little lost - they are currently in one of my leather corals. I was hoping to get some advice as to what types are hardy and do not wander endlessly around the tank and where would you suggest i buy it. i dont want to spend a fortune if i can avoid it and i dont want to buy something that will wither away in my tank and eventually have to be flushed. I have a deepish tank - maybe 30" deep with a 175W MH and 3 actinic compact fluros.
cheers,
Aaron

i have a pretty healthy puple tip for a long time. But don't buy white ones because i think they are bleached. My PTA got it's color back. It usually finds a space in the first minute when you put it into the tank (i switched tanks twice and it stays where i put it!)... It's pretty hardy, that's was my first anemone and its still living today. My friends have maroon clowns and they rape the PTA not sure about your saddle back, but most likely it host it.

I'm trading my PTA, pm me if your interested

Thanks for the tips but i was wondering if anyone can suggest a specific species of anemone that is fairly hardy (scientific name please) and to reccomend a reputable store in the NY metro area to buy it from?
Cheers, Aaron

Aaron, not sure about the RBTA's, but JOS here at Manhattanreefs has a couple of very nice sized species (6"-7") the last time I checked with him. They're only for $50 each, I think.

According to my Reef Aquarium book by Julian Sprung, Carpet anemones are considered very difficult to keep. I was looking for a hardy species as I am concerned that i do not have the set up for something too picky.
I was also hoping to get out of this as cheaply as possible as things are a bit tight at the moment.
