Will be getting a used one for cheap & am wondering how I am going to hook it up? I have an AGA 90g RR with the Mega flow kit. Can I connect the output (top portion) of the megaflow directly to the SeaSwirl? What plumbing pieces would I need?

I have something like 600GPH coming out with the Eheim 1262 pump & the 1/2 SS is rated for only 550GPH, will this be a problem? My return line from the megaflow is 1/2 as is.

Also just wondering what you think is ultimately better 2 sets of SS or 2 Tunze streams with controller? Tunzes are too pricey for now, but I am just wondering about the comparison.

Its hard to compare the tunze to anything really. Its like comparing MclarenF1 to a Viper. Both are powerfull but one kicks ass. If price is an issue go with the Seio. There are plenty of people including myself that use them.

The nicest thing about the Tunze is the control you get over the pumps. As much or as little flow as you need/want and a photocell which detects night from day to change to slower currents for night time mode.

Long story short:
Have cash to burn = Tunze
No have cash = Seio

Rather than the seaswirl youre better off with a SQWD. Plubs nicely into the return and mostof all it fits into the megaflow without cramping the space in case you ever need to get your hands in there.

Follow this link to see what the SQWD is all about. You will find plenty of used ones on RC and ebay. Im sure that there are a few people selling some here on MR

seaswirl is one of the best directional devices you can get, way better then a SCWD, these guys gives you a coverage and doesnt let a strong point flow stay at one spot, so these guys gives you a nice coverage, unlike tunze and seio, the seaswirl, makes a coverage and random collision, the seios and tunze needs to bounce off each other even they pulse and start it doesnt do what the seaswirl does. IMO seaswirls are awsome.

SCWD suck just as bad as MRC, I would never waste money on them. It takes away too much flow from your pump to move the internal parts, mine stopped working after 5 months of uses. You can't fix them once they stop running.

You can splite the output of the 1262, have 1/2 goto the stock return pipe and the remaining to the SS. You will be way better off than SCWD.

I would imagine that the SS gives greater coverage, since it can cover 180 deg of the tank. I already have a Tunze 6060 with no controller. So I figured the water current collisions with the existing T6060 would produce more random motion in my tank.

I too think you can't beat the control of the Tunze (with controller) from what I hear. Night mode & the ability to activate feed mode is a big advantage, but at a great cost. Too bad that my wife put me in the dog pound when it comes to any more reef purchases. I am guilty as charged though!

Have you guys seen this new product coming out soon by Tunze..VorTech.
