I am planning to make a refugium/sump. Planning to get a 29 gallon tank from petland discount for around $35 dollar and some acrylic sheets from Industrial Plastic for baffles. And sillicon glue. Not planning to drill the tank, probably use pvc pipes and an external pump for return. Have a piece of pvc pipe in the tank and back out from the top of the tank and connect the external pump. Would that work? Thanks

Anyone know which one of the sillicon glue i can use from home depot and what else would i need? Anything i am missing? Thanks in advance.

For a sump, you could go with the small tube of aquarium silicon from HD.

Also, cruise the scrap bin/shelves in industrial plastics and pull your pieces from there. Then have them cut them down. Or you could buy a cutter and do it yourself. it's a LOT cheaper if you can find decent sizes from the scrap bin. 1/8 or 3/16 would work for baffles.

How are you going to prime that piece of PVC? The pump will not have enough suction to prime it self, you can use a piece of airline tubing to suck the air out of the pipe but it is a PITA.
You will run into problems if the power ever goes out on you, the pump will run dry until you re-prim. You may be better off with a submergible pump in the sump like a Mag.
