Anyone know how to connect a dimmer to a DYI setup? I am trying to do the DYI LED fixture on reefcentral, got the dimmable buck pucks, but where does the dimmer control come in? Is it the power source that must have a dimmer or some other attachment that goes into the build?

Doesn't the dimmable buck pucks come with a pot that you twist and dim? Supposingly, there is a 5K one.
What about the manual? Any link to the manufacturer's website you can search the picture of the pot?

Not sure about pot that twists, havent gotten them yet, this project is quite expensive. spend nearly 1k on supplies. enough to make a 3 fixtures equiv to three halides

lol

I think I know this kid GQ22 from years back when I was in Brooklyn, if memory serve me right. Of course, I will try to help. But, BUT, dimmer for moonlight is not necessary same as Power LED dimmer. For the buck pucks, there should a 5K pot, unless he did not order the right ones.

I did not test the ones whichout it so I cannot say what to use until I get my hands on one. Hey, you know what, even friends will blame you if something goes wrong. J/K
It is always advisable to be careful in electronics.

3023-D-E-XXXX allows for external dimming but no potentiometer included.
3023-D-E-XXXP is wired with a 5k pot.

Either you keep your existing buckpucks and add a pot to it. Or send them all back and order the version with a pot.

I did one client with max pushing but the colling of his fixture is not cool and finally burn out the LEDs. After I reset the current to TYPICAL, everything work like a charm.
- (2)Arctic Silver Premium ASTA-7G Silver Thermal Epoxy
I suggest screws rather than thermal epoxy unless have to, due to physical limitations or the project is very small like 3 LEDs
- (36)Cree XR-E Q5 Star LED CREEXRE-W107
so so choice, over priced and BAD COLOR-not made for reef, good for planted tank!!!
- (36)Cree Royal Blue XR-E Star CREEXRE-RB LED
good choice, great color
- (36)Carclo Cree Star Lens 10425 Holder

Good luck and have fun.

Got my supplies, and the below information. Does anyone know where on the below would a potentiometer go to? Would it be somewhere between the battery/power source? Also is there a power source that has a dimmer/potentiometer on it already.

Red (vin +)--------switch-----------(+) battery
black (vin -)-------------------------(-) battery
white (LED +)-------------------------(+) LED
blue (LED - )--------------------------(-) LED
yellow (ref) -----dont need to use
grey (clt) -------dont need to use
