I recently bought a long-spined sea urchin to clean the algae from my tank. It's been doing a good job... but a little too good. It is now scraping coralline algae from my live rock to the point where there are little white spots showing all over from underneath what was once a purple coralline-covered rock.

I tried to supplement his diet with seaweed but he doesn't see it/go for it.

Do I take him out or is there anything I can do to keep him?

I dont know about attacking coral but mine does eat a lot of coraline. Ive had him in my tank for a year along with a pencil and short spined. The question you have to ask yourself is can you live with the white spots. If your coraline grows pretty fast, like mine then, then I wouldent worry about him to much.
