Glass top?????

I just bought a diamond Goby and like him a lot, My concern is that I dont want the Goby to jump out of my tank. I was wondering if it would be ok to buy one of those glasstops to prevent the goby from jumping out. Would the glass top take away from lighting I run 2X175 would it make the Tank hotter???? What are the cosequenses to having these glass tops.

If you don't have a chiller and cover your tank! the metal halides will make your tank fluctuate in temp alot

egg crate would be a better choice in upcoming hot summer days.

How big is the tank? i have one for over a year in my 125 and he never jumped out. If you do want to cover it, the egg crate would be best. They have it at home depot and it's less expensive than glass.

i have glass tops on my tank.. there are pros and cons..

pros...
fish wont jump out...
keeps the lighting nice clean and dry rather then having to clean the bulbs all the time
less water evaporates...

cons...
tank stays hotter
if the lighting is too close i have seen certain glass tops crack.. so far i been lucky.

Cleaning glass tops stink. I would go with egg crate.
