How long do MHs last? When is it time to replace them?

SE's are said to be good for ~10-12 months amd DE's ~12-14 months - there are those however, that believe they are garbage at 1/2 the life outlined above

I was hoping it was time to replace mine! I'm sick of the 10000K look. But I still have a way to go!

there are also people who believe bulbs can last more than a year.

it depends how long you run your MH's, what about people running them, 4,6,8,10,12 hours a day. this would all change how long they would last.

add up your hours and then decide what your comfortable with. if your sick of the 10k look then just get new bulbs and offer the old ones for sale, or keep them as back up.

Hmm... I only run them 4.5hrs a day and they've been running since the middle of August. They're DE.

you've got a long time left on those babies, if your not happy with the color get new ones and sell them, they have so many hours left on them you will be able to get decent money for them.

whenever run mine for that long my stuff bleaches

LoL...mine used to enjoy almost 14 hours of light...when I had my 30g running.

what do you guys run the rest of the day while the halides are off? Just acintic or acintic and some 10k white light like PC lighting?

actinic and super white's. I don't like the super whites, they are too magenta.

I just have 2 75W T5 actinics. Although when those need to be replaced I think I might go with one actinic and one 50/50.
