Another question if any one knows when an anemone stribbles up and stays that way what could it be? last question my mom has a bubble gum machine and made it into a fresh water aquarium now wants to turn it into saltwater will the silicone she used get destroyed by the salt? Thanks in advance to everone.

Any chance of posting a pic of the brown hairy algae? If it is a new tank then most likely you are going through the 'algae phase' that hapoens with new tanks and as long as you stay on top of your husbandry, it will pass in time. If not a new tank, then a pic will help us identify what type of algae it is. Can you post the parameters on your water?

How long has the anenome been doing this and what kind of anenome is it? It is not uncommon for them to shrivel up at times, but they usually bounce back within a day in my experience. Keep your eye on it, it it's foot looses it's grip, and it is shriveled up, it could be dying..they foul a tank very quickly when they do die.
Again it would be very helpful to know the age of your tank.

Bubble gum machine tank eh? :) How big it is? The difficult part would be how to hook up any necessary equipment, how to light it, and what you could actually put in there. I's think the biggest issue would be lack of oxygen exchange as there would be a very small (if at all) surface area for that to take place.
