I hear alot about it. I just don't know what it is and why it's advantageous. Can someone explain it for the noob? Also, what are these little red bumps sprouting from my rocks?

Coralline algae, is the hard algae that everyone, well most people, desire in there tanks. Its the purple algae that you see some peoples tank covered in and is in some way a sign of the tanks health. Nothing really special..it just looks a lot better than hair algae...

Yes, it's mighty cool to have purple and pink rocks then greeen and red slime, right? Heck, my rocks being purple and pink makes me feel more like a man! Anyways, coralline is also diserable because often times, they prevent the booming of other undesirable and unmanageble algae. So think of them as these massive club bouncers with pink and purple tights on guarding your tank. Thats what I do ...

coralline is great for your tank. it usually grows on the rocks. its puple in color. for the red bumpy things they are some type of coral i would guess or sum sort of hard algae. but no need to worry that pretty much means your tank is maturing and your rock is growing life forms on top of it... get those pics of your tank.

how big is your tank.
how much live rock do you have in there.
