Elos Natural Skimmer - I Broke Down and Did It

After weeks of considering, I finally broke down today and orderd an Elos Natural Skimmer. It's price has me a little squeamish, but what pushed me over the edge was another incident of my TurboFlotor failing to make bubbles. Yanking the skimmer and pump out of the sump to fix it has just gotten too old.

I also got a new pump to run it that I've never used before. The makers of Maxi-Jet have come out with a new utility pump that is supposed to run cool (the less heat the better!) and be very energy efficient. If it's as good as their power heads I'll be very pleased.

The whole set-up should be here in about 10 days...I can hardly wait!

I guess it depends on what you mean by better. I wanted a venturi skimmer with a small footprint that would be easy to maintain. What did you have in mind?

Why venturi skimmer? there are better options to inject and mix air now days. Venturi along is not very effective.

It's not a regular venturi skimmer. The top down injection system is what I found appealing. What option other than needlewheel, pinwheel or similar injection methods that require impeller mods that reduce their pumping capacity or an airline to run under water would you recommend?

i had one, it isnt overly noisey, but tank is next to bedroom door, it killed my rs 80,, asm g2 and bermuda bpc 3
