Hi,

I recently lost most of my fish to what I believe was a Marine Velvet out brake which I feel was caused by losing my main circulation pump ( for a total of 8 days)a while back and forgetting that the heaters were in the sump. Most of the fish looked severely stressed and all but 3 died within 3 days of getting the new pump online.

I set up a hospital tank and my Red Sea Sailfin died after less than 6 hours under treatment. The last survivors I was finally able to catch just recently and I will be fallow for a total of 7 weeks.

My question is thus; I have both my red tail file fish and my blue spotted goby
in the hospital tank after a 5 minute fresh water dip for a little over a week. I am treating with coppersafe and I want to know how long the traetment should last?

You should treat for 14 days after you see the last spot fall off the fish. Get a good test kit and make sure the copper is at the correct level for that period too.

Also fresh water dips don't do much, outside of stressing out the fish even more. Most Ich spores can't take fresh water for long periods and wouldn't release from the fish's body.
