first you have to determine weather your readings are meq/l or dkh. i read that if you want good growth on you corals (sps) you should keep your alk alittle high like around 10dkh. 8.9dkh is more around the normal alk readings when you mean low what reading are you talking about.Chris5 said:I am still confused only because Kuya's tank we tested last night and it was around 8.9 and all his corals are out and water is looking great...my tank with a low alk is looking horrible ...

dude those readings your shooting for are very dangerous, i'd keep it where your at, and let it drop on it's own abit to keep around 10 to 11 khChris5 said:How many times in a 24 hr period can you dose with ALK ??? Just did another reading 4.25 meq/L / 11.9 KH ....proper should be 6-9 meq/L

how long is your tank up. what type off corals you keeping, what type of lighting you have. what are all your water perimeters that you test for. what size tank and what you using for waterfloChris5 said:Just confused because if alk is ok which means ph is ok? what is causing corals not to live if all other water paramters are ok?

You just transferred all your corals and things over from a smaller tank to a larger tank you have to except some time before everything gets backs to normal. Just take your time and let everything settle and then start to add some corals and see how they do before placing more into the tank.
