I never thought it would happen but tonight was that night where my tank crashed :irked:. I came home tonight to a flooded basement and realized my auto-top off (that F----- piece offffff...GRRRR) failed on me and caused my sump to overflow causing god knows how much gallons of water onto my floor. I must have vacummed up about 10 gallons, its a good thing the carpet absored most of it otherwise it might had been more puddles around. My salinity had dropped to about 1.010 and all my LPS and SPS are in bad shape in quarantince, most might not even make it. My fish looked stressed but at least they where alive. It will be a miracle if I see anything besides my fish living...What a horrible night :(

Creeper, sorry to read this buddy!!;(

All I can tell you is to hang in there.. This kind of thing has happened to most of us. Not that that makes it any easier to deal with. But at least you know you are not alone.

Hey All,

Thank you all for the support and inspiration. There is only one thing to do, suck it up and make the tank even better than before.

This morning I got up and the first thing I did was check on the tank. All the fish are alive which is a plus but looks like all my SPS and LPS are gone :(.. Maybe one or two polyps and shrooms might make it. I was hoping some of my SPS/LPS would have survive this tradegy..

The Kent float valve failed because the float was not lifting up to close off the water. I didn't get to analyze what caused it to malfuntion due to quarantine, cleaning up. When I get home from work I will see what caused it to get jammed.

I have to go on vacation at the end of the year and now I am paranoid to leave the tank unattended with automation. I was reading about the tunze osmolator and many are confident in it. What you guys think.....

Sorry to hear that. It did happen to me before when I had my 90G for koi. One night, in the middle of the night, I woke up because of the alarm. It was so scary because I didn't know what happened. It turned out the tube of the returning water slipped off and dumped at least 60G onto the hardwood floor of my living room.

So maybe your incident is bad, but it could have been worse, like mine:) Don't feel bad, don't quit:)

If you are planning to get the tunze osmolator, friend of mine whos now out of the hobby has one that he used 2 times only during vacations, I am sure he ll give u a good deal on it.
