Green Bubble Algae?

Hi everyone,

I need some help, I am getting an outbreak of green bubble algae in my 90 gallon tank. I have read that it is not good to break the bubbles since they release spores that will make things worse.

So how do you get rid of it?

Get some emerald crabs.

Gently pry off the bubbles and dispose. They're usually pretty easy to get off of rocks, etc.

I would make sure to take the rock out of the tank before you pry them off OUTSIDE THE TANK in case one of the bubbles pops then rinse the rock with ro/di water.

Cannot take rocks out of tank. It is on some major supporting structures. The whole reef could colapse. In addition some of those rocks have other things growing on them that I want to keep.

I did as cowfish suggested. The vast majority just came off and then I sucked them up with a turkey baster. You may want to turn off pumps and PHs while you do this so you don't have to chase the bubbles with the baster.

do a lot of water changes and suck out as many bubbles as possible. Also get some emerald crabs. Both of those together should take care of your problem. Worked for me.
