Clamming in LI?

Any LI recreational clammers here? I am thinking of digging up some clams for fun and to eat may be:eat: Somewhere near Great South Bay or Fire Island? Also I found that some places required permits and some don?t? Any tips?

I used to spend the summers out in talisman with the park rangers. Had a big crab pot and went clamming all the time. Good stuff

on meaDow isLand, across from sHort beach... a sandBar appears on loW tides. peeps just go tHer and dig up cLams. be fast coZ the tide comeS in fast sometimeS.
