Wavy Seas replacement

For those of you who have a "love/hate" relationship with Wavy Seas - love the concept/hate the product, here is mention of it's replacement:

Wow....I was just looking at this product. Anyone have any experience with the older versions ? Also is the new product actually fully redesigned ?

Looks like this company took over the old version (Wavy Seas) line. Old version had problems as discussed on that thread and customer service was non-existent. People were sending units back for warranty service and the company just folded and screwed a ton of customers.
I took one apart and they use a stepper motor but the plastic armature and gear assembly looked like a weak design.
Sea Swirls are rock solid but bulky, cannot control speed or rotation spread and IME, their old design last about 4-5 years before you need to send it in for reconditioning.
