Aiptasia

Hoping someone can help on this topic. I think I have Aiptasia, but am not sure. If I was to pick at it or poke at it, will the tentacles suck back in it's base (kind of like what a feather duster does)?

There are quite a few of these on one piece of my live rock. It's a small rock, so if it is aiptasia, I'll prob not put this in my main tank.

if you have apic that would help ,,
if you DO have Aiptasias ,,you can
1 ,,use joes juice .
2 mix some kalk with ro water ,and use as you do joes juice
3 ,get a CBB ,,but hard to get them to eat ,
4 ,Get a pepper mint shrimp,(may or maynot eat them)
dont do anything till you get a pic up so we know for sure .

Got lucky with my 2 peppermints from Petco...I've been aiptasia free since then.

post a pic, the could be aiptasia, could be hydroids as well if they are in a small group and very small

I never know petco's selling peps. Kris, where did you get them?

The one in union square, they almost always have em by the "reef" tank. It's $4.49 and they're pretty big.

eh everynow and then they have
i know he one on union square 14th street has them often so give them a shot. or go to new wrold aqauria, i think they aare 10 buks each

Having trouble getting a pic of it, as it's really really small. Prob 5 mm big, but many of them. Tiny hair like tentacles and dark brown in color.

mayeb they ar just polps on the rock, i have those on my rock, aiptasia dont have tiny air like tenticles, and arent often in clusters. but these polyps im talking bout do have hair like tenticles and are allways in clusters

what yu should do it touch it with something and see what ahppens,
if it goes alll the way in and basiclly disapears than its probebly an aptasia, but if you touch it and only the head part recedess, then its not aptasia.

I don't think they are polyps. If they are...definitely the ugliest I've seen.

These suspected aiptasia that I see are definitely in clusters. Once I poke at it, the hairs immediately go into the stem.

If your seeing "hairs" and not tentacles then I'd go with hydroids toooo....

rite they go into the "stem" but you still see the actual unknown specimen.
aiptasia receed completley,
btw i ment hydroids i just forgot what they were alled so i name them polyps

Sorry, but what are hydroids? Are they safe in a FOWLR tank?

Looks closest to the "Nasty" Regular Hydroids.

I guess I can just use something to pinch these off?
