I'm personally steering clear of LEDs for the time being. Too many "me too" companies out there now and nobody has been able to produce any kind of long term numbers as far as PAR drop off. Every time I talk to companies it's the same thing, they just repeat the 5 year lifespan, less wattage, cheaper than halides speech. As far as I have gathered, unless you're looking at the high output large LEDs you're just wasteing your time on glorified party favors. The lights above, judging from the design, aren't great just a seemingly cheaper way to get into the LED craze. These look like they would have real heat issues, which can sharply reduce the lifespan of LEDs. The only LEDs I would even consider at this point are the DIY ones people are making at home with the cree type units. You can even find these fluorescent replacement bulbs on ledsupply.com. I think they start at $120 a stick and go up.

Officially, I wouldn't buy this unit. I just see things that go against what we know about LEDs in them and if you are determined to get an LED unit there are better ones available for a little more. This hobby is full of equipment that is close to the same price and nowhere near the same quality, it's just a marketing tool. People assumethat price is somehow an indicator of quality and that is what some of these guys are relying on.

Hey Guys, just to keep everyone on the same page, I'm testing the Sunbrite bulbs out on my own system starting in about 2 weeks. Keep in touch with my Evolution Of A Zeovit System and we should all have a verdict out on the performance or at least the effect on livestock.

My version using Power LEDs with 18 Blue, 18W White total 36W at $324. Each color is dimmable by itself

Power LEDs 9W White(10,000K) and 18WBlue total 27W $270 Each color is dimmable by itself.

I have seen a few places on MR that you build these but never dawned on me to ask you about them. What is the PAR rating at 24"? Do you have any spec-sheets?
