adding sand ?

i just added a sand bed to my 180g, boy it was easier than i thought me and Craig(zona322) did it took about 1.5 hrs tubed it down with a peice of 2"plastic pipe tanks already about clear.My question is i checked some parameters and DKH and akalinity are a little high is that normal this sand came from an established tank i did rinse it before putting it in.RJ

Keep an eye out for an ammonia or nitrate spike as well if it came from a established tank. Disturbing the sand bed can release some pretty nasty stuff into the tank regardless of how well you rinse it.

ammonia levels are <0.25 and nitrates at about 5 with salifert test kits
