you can and will get as good of color with t5 as with mh, guys will argue it back and forth and give reason to go with mh over t5 and opposite. those who have never ran t5's only for a period of time honestly dont know to say. all my tanks but ne have been t5's and there are several others on here who run t5 sps tanks also, and my new build will be t5 also, now results will vary with what bulbs you use and what type of fixture, will a current pro work as well as a ati power fixture ? no it wont, will a icecap driven t5 set up work btter then others ? yes it will, kinda like asking a guy with a porsche if a ferrari is better

I wouldn't run T5's on a 24" tank, but on a 20 and under I would.. I like sps on the floor also.. I only ran t5's for 6 month's.. I ran pc's about 14 of them over my 125, but I still had to keep the sps at the top..
Lot's of people have done T5's on deep tanks and have decent colrs on the lower corals..

I think what all this info is saying is that the way to choose whether to get MH or T5s isn't to look at it from the perspective of will one give you better color than the other. That's essentially because, there are so many kinds of bulbs (wattage, Kelvin-rating, for example) available in both nowadays, that you can get great color from both kinds of lighting. Other considerations should determine which you choose...like length of your tank, depth of your tank, cost, heat, etc.

naw i got a 8 bulb tek light off RC, eventually plan to switch ballast out to 2 660s and over drive the bulbs puts them at 50 or 60w apiece then, not that i think i will need it though, will see once its running i ran a 6 bulb on my old 36x24x17 and keep all types of sps, this will go on a 36x24x22 and be about 6" off water
