looking to start doing vodka what to start really slow my net water vulome is 100 gallons so my question is what do i dose and how much ?do i need to add batica to the tank? please help me start this read the article just dont get it thanks jeremy
Vodka from what i remember uses the sugars in it to consume waists, or stick to the waist and makes it easier for your skimmer to pull out the waist. I know dosing vodka was for reducing phosphates to i think- and if your phosphates are to high your colors will be brown- when they get lowered your colors get colorful. You need to find your corals sweet spot with phosphates, test kit for the phosphates arent as pinpoint as the digital or the hanna ones. So it might be smart to invest in a good phosphate meter. I dont dose vodka i hope someone chimes in and fixes what i may have missed or said wrong.
If your nitrate is 0, why are you dosing vodka for?
The main reason for dosing vodka is to encourage bacteria bloom. The bacteria eats nitrate and phosphate and replicate, the more bacteria the more nitrate and phosphate is consumned. You skimmer will then skim the bacteria out, taking with it nitrate and phosphate.
So I don't know what you are trying to accomplish dosing vodka with no nitrate in the system, you won't get a bacteria bloom.
