Great so here is the main take away for those who like to skim versus read: DON"T USE ANY MEDICATIONS UNLESS YOU HAVE AN APPROPRIATE TEST KIT!! :)

Hyposalinity may help fish breathe easily but the main positive of hypo (besides the treatment aspect) is that fish use less energy converting the salinity of the surrounding water to match their internal body salinity (which is in the range of recommended hypo salines for treatment) :)

Sounds good to me, so are we in a agreement? :)

The bold is a nice touch.:givebeer:

Hypo has been good to me and I love it's benefits.

Well, since you guys have discussed the pros & cons of both copper meds & hyposalinity. There is no need for me to get in to it.lol
I also used copper many a times over the past 8 years in my fo & fowlr DTs with no ill effects. This is the first tank that has given me any trouble. So the bottom line may never be known as to what happened. And there are corals, and snails living in this so called fowlr.LOL

What I intend to do with this tank for now, is simply keep it as is, and just watch to see where it goes from here on with the 2 fish and 2 eels left in it.

Dom, thank you so much for all your help.

inferno thank you as well, and BTW I do use a refractometer. I know I put down hydrometer, I just went back and corrected it.
Oh, and when I use copper (which I have used several different ones including my favorite "SeaCure") I always by the test kit that corresponds to the particular one I a m using at the time.;)

I will consider myself a noob for ever, and will always seek advice as this hobby is always in a state of flux.;) But I am not totally new at it.:)

I may still remove some of the sand since I can't stand the way the clown, or eels, or both keep piling it up against the front pane.LOL

I'll go back and remove the hydrometer thingy I wrote. LOL.
I'm with you about being an eternal newbie because just when you think you have it down something comes along and upsets the apple cart, It's a constant learning cycle which is awesome IMO. Anything that keeps you on your toes is worth doing.

It's good to know you are using the appropriate test kit when you are medicating because I know way to many people who just don't have a clue and will follow the the advice from anyone with out knowing or getting the all of the facts before they start that's why I never assume an individual already knows I assume they don't know.
Sorry for the little scuffle back there, I'm a little stubborn. OK a lot.:wink1:

I hope you get to the bottom of the problem you're experiencing.
