sorry to hear about your fish. what you can do i dont no how you have your powerheads right now but you can put a suction foam piece on top of were it sucks in water so what happened to you is less likely to every happen. how strong are your powerheads.

u can custom make a foam piece that looks like a small cylindar. cut a hole in the middle and slip it on. if anyone has any better ideas be my guest. im pretty sure you can do that but it might cut the flow down just a little bit. ive seen those foam cylinders on some powerheads at the LFS. check it out. maybe somebody has a better idea.

I use prefilters on my powerheads. Protects PH, Fish, and corals. Plus adds to filtration a little.

the prefilter looks ugly and takes up alot of space so is the thing im using rah nows tho eRrr i shoulda done this early but no fishes ever got caught on the PH before just this tang i guess cause hes thin and just the right shape to fit in the hole sideways

Sam ,,for now ,,let it look ugly till you come up with a better solution ,srry abou thte tang ,but if you have one tang in your tank ,that should be enuf ,go on another type of fish that will get along with its tank mates ,

as for the power head ,just do the ugly thing ,till we can come up or you come up with something better ,you dont want to lose another fish ,so ugly it is :bigeyes2: (for now),,lol

Ive seen pvc pipe plumbed into the intake of the pump. One guy just put the pvc pointing straight down with various sized holes drilled into it to ease the suction. Another guy plumbed the pvc down to the bottom of the tank and accross to the rocks. He said it worked really well cause it pulled the stagnant water and improved overall circulation. It looks awkward at first but with coarline on it it looks ok.

400 gph ph should not suck in a healthy yellow tang, not even my 3000gph tunze could do that.
You have two yellow tangs in your tank, one is harassing the other and making it weak and possibly injured it. Maybe that is what killed the tang and the PH sucked it up after it was dead.
