an outside wall is always load bearing.

then you have to go check the basement and see where the supports are.
if there is a wall or columns with a wall right above it, then that is a load bearing wall. the weight is being carried down the length of the wall to the ground. fyi, never punch holes in these walls unless you know exactly what you are doing.

well, i have no attic. it is those typical 2 family houses in queens. and there are tenents downstairs. so im not comfortable with going downstairs and start looking at the ceiling. haha but i see what you guys mean now. i think im going to call the contractors that built the house and ask them where the joints are. thanks

Been to a few building collapses due to too much weight upstairs. Got a funny story about a housefire If I ever meet you remind me to tell you.
