Question about Crocea Clams.....?

Does anyone know how long it takes for one of these clams to acclimate to a tank so that it is fully opened. Right now it seems to be about 1/2 open. When I first put it in it was fully opened amost right away.
Now it has remained half way opened, probably for the whole day.

Any ideas anyone?

It's a little hard to tell from the photo, but it looks pretty good to me. How long have you had it?

About 2 days, is it normal to look like this?
I thought the middle part of the membrane was supposed to be stretched tight.

You mean the center part of the mantle? That's as wide as they get in croceas. Here's photo of a crocea I used to have in another tank a few years back.

I guess I had a different idea of what a really healthy Corcea looked like.
The clam came from House.

Also realize that the clam is small and if it was larger it would look more open and fuller.

To see if the clam is doing well move your hand over it, between the light and water right above the clam, and you should see the clam close right away. If it closes right away then the clam is doing fine.

Fully opened clam

This morning the clam is fully opened.
Guys, this is what I'm used to seeing from my clam.

Does anyone know if these clams should be regularly fed, I've been reading alot of conflicting advice on these clams. Some websites suggest that they require no feeding what so ever, others suggest feeding no matter what size.

The smaller clams need to be feed, daily, but once they get in the 3 1/2-4"+ range they usally don't need to be feed at all. Alot of them also get food when you feed the tank and also when you clean the front glass as all this gets into the water colunm. You'll find some people don't feed them once they get large and they do fine. If you look at www.clamsdirect.com forum you'll find alot of talk on the subject along with alot of other things about clams.
