Last night i was working around my RO unit. I looked into my 55 gal vat tub to find Four, not one or two or three. but FOUR MICE floating in my RO water. They must have parachuted in. I fished them out with a net and threw them and the net away. My question is. How do i go about cleaning the tub. Should i use bleach? And worst question, what if these little ass's ate poison which makes them dehitated and seaching for water?

Ewwww!
Yes you can use bleach BUT you must make sure it is out of there before you use it to make water again for your tank!

Your LFS store should carry a product called Clor-X -Change or Super Chlor - it is a very concentrated chlorine remover. After filling the pail and soaking with bleach, you'd want to air dry it, then refil and use this product (1 drop per gallon usually), then rinse and air dry again.

Pool Shock

Just go to the swimming pool store and by some pool shock its pure bleach but do it outside as the fumes can be dangerous. They sell it in 1lb bags for a few dollars.

Depending what the bin is made of you may have to be careful with how strong a bleach you use. I agree that your discovery is "nasty " but I would think regular bleach and a rinse or two with some declorinator will do the trick. Let it air dry when you are done.

fill it up and throw in a gallon of clorox overnight. rinse it a few times and then let it air dry.....chlorine dissipates when exposed to air and buy a tight lid

Overkill. Just mix in unscented bleach with water at the rates recommended on the bottle, let soak for a good while -- then empty, rinse, fill, add Prime or similar dechlorinator, empty, rinse again, give it the sniff test, and if it passes, let it dry. :)

how big is the tub? For SANITIZING my kegs for beer, I use 1oz vinegar, fill up the keg (5 gallons) and then add 1 oz bleach. Let soak for 5 minutes and rinse. That's it.

DO NOT add the bleach and the vinegar at the same time! You will create chlorine gas and that's bad.

The vinegar acidifies the chlorine solution and makes it work better.

So saturday i rinsed the tub, then ran bleach threw it for an hour, drained and air dried the tub. Sunday I filled the tube and ran Prime for an hours then drained and air dried. No odor is left from the bleach i think im safe to start making water again but first i need to build a lid.
