I disagree, the wattage is just more for deeper tanks, up to 26" for 250w anything deeper I would go with higer wattage

I ran 400's on my 120 and that worked out perfect. Lots of guys use 400s on tanks less than 26" deep with great results. When you get in the blue spectrum halides in 250w, the par is not so great.

I run 3 250W reef luk 10 K with lumenarcs with T5 actinic supplmation on my 450 (30" deep) with a photo period of 5 hours MH and 8 hours actinic
great color and nice SPS growth
IMHO 400's are a waste of electricity
lumen arc reflectors make a world of difference!

If I were to set up another 180 I would use 175's

you feel this would be good for a 180 thats 72''

Idk...

The 60" length would not cover the whole length of the tank. I think guys with 6ft tank use 2x36" units or use a 60" unit and keep their aquascape away from the ends of the tank. I'm really not sure though though because I am not setting up a 6ft tank anytime soon. As for the intensity this fixture produces it is great for a 180. Take a look at Sunnyx's thread in the SPS forum if you haven't already.
