To support the local reef club, I have been donating some corals in LIRA meetings for a while, but I still keep receiving emails, instant messages, and phone calls asking questions and details. Sorry I do not have enough time to respond one by one, and I am trying to use this thread to answer the questions, and list all the free corals and items which I will donate before each meeting.

Long Island Reef Association (LIRA) holds their monthly meeting on the first Friday of each month at my office located at

DICKENS INC.
75 Austin Blvd.,
Commack, NY 11725

Here is the link for the direction,

A picture of the building can be found at the following thread,

If you are not a member of LIRA, they collect $5.- for your one time attendance. Here is the link to LIRA for more details.

LIRA also has the following forum at RC. You are welcome to swap and sell your corals at the meeting, and a special table in the corridor is provided for your use. The table inside the conference room is for donated corals only. You may post your sale or swap at the following thread,

My office opens by 6pm, all the food and drinks are on the table and in the refrigerator, please help yourself, a film related to the coral reefs will also be played. The meeting starts by 8pm with a special invited speaker, auctions for the donated corals by members will be followed after the seminar. After that, free tickets for drawing the winners of free corals will be given to each attendee. Here is how it works,

  • The winning numbers will be assigned with a sequence number starting from 1 to 20 depending on the number of available items. Each winner will be called and choose the free items by their sequence number.
  • Each family will only be allowed to have one item even more than one sequence numbers are received.
  • Items chosen will be for the use of your own tanks only, not for resale or gift to others. If you do not find any suitable item, please leave the opportunity to other attendees.
  • Sometimes more winning sequence numbers than the available items will be drawn; winners of higher numbers for free corals are not guaranteed.
  • I reserve the right to decide which corals to be given basing on your tank, equipment, experience, and the need of other winners. I reserve the right for final decision, winners of draw are not always guaranteed for free corals.
  • Those who do not win the draw still can wait and talk to me your need after all the winners have picked their items, I will see what I can do, but again, no guarantee.
Please do not contact me if you want to buy corals, I do not sell my corals, and I will ask double of the regular retail prices if I do. At this moment, you can only get my corals ?FREE? by attending the LIRA monthly meetings.

James, it was wonderful to make your acquaintance! And of course for the opportunity to see those magnificent tanks of yours. Your animals looked very healthy...... May you continue with your success for many more years to come........
