Skimmer collection cup mod

Hi guys I'm having a problem with my urchin pro skimmer collection cup. It's filling up with wet skim too much . First off by saying I have the cup to the highest level and still skim wet . I have a 55g reef with lps softies and 2 fishes I'm doing 14g water change every week to battle some cyno and phosphates . Is it possible to make a hole on the collection cup so I can put a hose inside so I can drain it inside a bucket. I've sent custom king a pm but gotten no replay what u guys think I should do I'm emptying the cup 3 times a day it's driving me crazy!

What pump is on the skimmer? Has it always been this way?

It's on a mag 3 and no before it will skim dry when I had alot of fish but I only have 2 . Feed algea strips 4 times a week do water change every week I'm thinking I have a very low bioload. Bronx all the way

LOL! I think it may be time to take the skimmer off and clean it really well. Also, unclog the vavle in the skimmer where it looks like a flathead can fit in.

Are you dosing anything? Messing around with Epoxy for frags?

I drilled a hole in my remora, then I placed a tube to an empty gallon and it works beautiful. The only problems are: BE VERY CAREFULL DRILLING you can crack the acrilic (leave it to the pros), and the second problem is when I have to clean the colection cup.

Nope, not a stupid ?. I've been told Vinegar works. a vinegar bath. the valve on top could be clogged up aswell.

Go for it. If you're drilling on the flat part of the collection cup, just use a step bit (also called a Uni-Bit.) Go slow and you should have a hole in no time.

There are also people around here that can add a small acrylic tube to the collection cup, so you have a place to put the tubing, rather than 'stuffing it in the hole.' which is the exact way I did my first collection cup mod...
